Niykee is a songwriter who, despite her recent busy schedule, has managed to maintain an ongoing routine. Personal highlights included being chosen by Snoop dogg to be his private assistant at the YouTube Brandcast event in May 2013. Songwriting is a source of inspiration for new producers. Niykee is always listening to beats and discovers many songs that inspire her. "I'll be able to tell within the first 5 seconds if it's a good beat. Once I have an idea in my head, I will start writing right away." I'll sit out on my front porch and play my guitar and the words appear and it's usually completed in less than 30 minutes. In her development as a lyricist Niykee notes that the pain of her history is an unending source of inspiration. She says that even when she is not writing about things that were actually taking place every ache through her childhood and losing her younger sister finds its way into the music. This shapes my music and adds a greater significance, something I consider extremely important. I want to be able to listen to my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of what I have to say.
