After being initially inspired by the shadows of trees that she saw on the grass, she set about studying a method that didn't present the chosen object as a two-dimensional image on canvas. Instead, the object is transformed into a representation of the subject, where the surface is the vehicle for its personal interpretation by painting, particularly in the case of live or perishable objects for example, like humans or fruit. Alexa Meade's style of painting, that is a bit ephemeral in its nature, can be seen. The only work of Alexa's art that survives is her photograph. Because the photography and painting methods are closely coordinated, the end result is the trompe-l'oeil effect in which the illusion of three dimensions can only be seen at specific locations, like the eye area or the hair. Meade sometimes integrates her paintings in the 3D world surrounding them. They interact within the self-created world. In this way, she blurs the lines between photography, painting installation and performance.
