She was a sports reporter for some of the biggest media outlets across the nation. The journalist spent more than a decade covering the sport for The Washington Post, including tennis, football and basketball. Nichols was hired by ESPN at the beginning of 2004. She spent nine years there, earning two Emmy Awards. She also appeared on the most popular programs on ESPN like SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. Nichols was also a an integral part of ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts as an on-line reporter. After that, she joined CNN as well as Turner Sports. Only the second woman has been chosen from more than two hundred nominees in the long history of the honor.
